Follow these steps to receive instantaneously updates on your cell phone and/or your computer, from a service called Twitter.

Things to know about Twitter:

It is completely free

Text messaging on your phone is required

If you go over your allotted texts for the month, you will obviously have to pay whatever fee your cell phone provider charges you

There are no additional charges from twitter.com for this service

Unlimited text through your cell phone provider is obviously the best option, but I should not update over 200 times a month for sure

How to do this: (there are two options)

You do not want to sign up for twitter to get updates on your cell phone, but you want to see the updates we are putting up there:

Open this link on your computer: http://twitter.com/JCBIBB

You can see any updates that are sent the moment we send them

You want updates on your cell phone:

Go to HYPERLINK “http://www.twitter.com” www.twitter.com

Hit the “Get Started Now” button on the screen and follow the steps to create an account

Hit “skip this step” after your create your account that way you don’t end up adding people or typing in your email password (no reason to)

Once you have an account, you will be on what is called your “home page”

Hit the SETTINGS tab at the top of the page (on the right)

The first tab that comes up is “Account,” fill in as much information as you want

Hit save, at the bottom of the page, when you are done

Click on “Devices” (this is where you put your phone in to get the messages)

Type your phone number in like this: +15739999999 (substitute your number for the 9’s I used; if you have a different area code than 573, substitute that in; the +1 is the country code)

Check the box that says allow twitter to update (if you don’t you won’t get any of the updates)

Hit Save

Send a text with the letters provided, no spaces and all in the exact “case” that it says to the number 40404. This validates the phone to Twitter

Hit refresh on your computer screen about a minute after you send this text, it should look different now

Make sure device updates are “ON”

You can opt to turn updates off during certain hours, do whatever you want here

You will get a text message soon saying that twitter has verified your phone

Now, go to FIND PEOPLE (a tab at the top of the screen)

When the next screen comes up, hit FIND ON TWITTER and type in JCBIBB

When it lists JCBIBB, click on that (its in blue)

Underneath the picture, click the word “Follow” and then it’ll say something like, “You are now following JCBIBB”

Where it says, “Device updates off,” click that

It will bring up a screen and you need to turn them ON

It will now say that you are receiving updates via SMS (text) for JCBIBB

You will now receive a text for anything I send to twitter on your phone

If at anytime you want to turn updates off, just hit “Device updates on” for JCBIBB and just turn them off

That’s it your all done.
