About
We’re thrilled you stopped by and hope to peak your interest in joining our youth sports program. If you have any questions, please contact us.
Jefferson City Baseball, Inc. (JCBI) – We’re an independent, non for profit (501c) organization committed to promoting, organizing and developing young athletes for various high school baseball programs in our and surrounding communities. We operate 3 teams, typically consisting of 12 players each that compete at the 12u, 13u and 14u levels.
United States Specialty Sports Association (USSSA) – Our teams participate in USSSA tournaments throughout Missouri and surrounding states. USSSA was founded in 1996 with the purpose of organizing and promoting youth and adult baseball at both the local and national level. USSSA in conjunction with BC Baseball attracts some of the best baseball teams in Missouri and surrounding states to their tournaments.
They operate four class divisions within each age group; Major, AAA, AA and A. Our teams typically participate in either the AAA or AA divisions and attend six to nine tournaments.
BC Baseball League – Our teams typically participate in the BC Baseball League, located in Columbia, Missouri at the Twin Oaks Sports Complex near Highway Z and I-70. Their affiliation with USSSA provides an opportunity for league teams to qualify for state, regional and national tournament play. These league teams qualify for tournaments as a team and are not comprised of “all-star squad” for post season play. League games are played at various locations throughout central Missouri, but are generally broken into a northern and southern division. Games are played in Columbia, Jefferson City, Taos, Ashland and other locations, attracting teams from all over central Missouri.
Coaching Staff – We are fortunate to have several members from the Jefferson City High School Baseball Coaching Staff assisting our organization. Please note, we’re not affiliated with Jefferson City High School in any fashion. These coaches contribute their time and knowledge to our program in hopes of developing better baseball players.
Funding – JCBI is reliant on corporate sponsors, player fees, proceeds from tournaments and fundraisers sponsored by JCBI. We do everything possible to keep player fees to a minimum, but competitive baseball at this level isn’t cheap. Each team is responsible for conducting at least one fundraiser, but many conduct more.
Practices – Each team develops its own practice schedule, but your player should plan to practice three or more times per week. Availability of facilities and weather can have an impact on practice schedules. Players are expected to be on time, focused, cooperative and ready to learn. Practices are important to the development of the team as well for individual skill development. Coaches make decisions regarding playing time based on practices.
Playing Time – JCBI develops competitive baseball teams, thus there is no mandatory playing time rules or requirements. Coaches make every effort to play as many players as possible, but playing time is determined by evaluating key elements such as: skills, effort, hustle, practice attendance, enthusiasm, preparation, conditioning, knowledge of the game, and sacrifice for the good of the team (being a team player).
